When SVCF launched as a new community foundation on Jan. 1, 2007, we placed diversity among our guiding principles.
We seek to live out these principles by ensuring that the staff we hire, the projects we implement and the grantmaking work we do reflect the many cultures of our region. In doing so, we partner with the world and are able to make a difference in our local communities and beyond as we foster inclusion and celebrate diversity.

In July 2016, SVCF joined 37 other foundations to make a public statement emphasizing our commitment to creating constructive community dialogue to address these issues.
SVCF was a signatory on the ad pictured at right. The ad ran in newspapers across the United States, including the Baltimore Sun, Detroit News/Detroit Free Press, New Michigan, Houston Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Bee, Miami Herald, New York Times and the Washington Post.
